And Nothing but the Truth!

I ran into a Wall Street Journal article today which discussed on of the subjects I find least palatable. Testilying:

Though few officers will confess to lying -- after all, it's a crime -- work by researchers and a 1990s commission appointed to examine police corruption shows there's a tacit agreement among many officers that lying about how evidence is seized keeps criminals off the street.
In their zeal to keep our streets safe from the "bad guys," some LEOs will pull out all the stops, even if it means becoming a "bad guy" themselves. Well who do we rely to protect us from this government intrusion into our lives? The nine Justices of the Supreme Court.

Turns out, they've been out to lunch while our rights have been violated , taking a staunchly pro-fascist stance. They give us pearls of wisdom like this. I know I'm just a rookie, but really, where in the US Constitution, Amendment IV does it ever mention the word "except" when describing our right to be free from search or seizure? All digs aside, the ante is extraordinarily high when the police or other public officials do not get things right. Isn't an effective form of protecting the people from a slipshod, negligent police force the exclusionary rule?
